Contestant Rules


211Me OFFICIAL “PAY MY RENT” CONTEST RULES
  1. Eligibility.

    NO PURCHASE NECESSARY.

    Only legal U.S. residents at least 18 years of age who reside in and who are physically located in the U.S. (excluding its territories and possessions) and are current working comics are eligible to enter the Showcase Live “Pay My Rent” Comedy Contest (the "Contest"). Working comics are defined as having performed at least three (3) times in a public venue within the last six (6) months and have publicly available comedy material for review on a website or other format.

  2. Entries.

    1. To enter the Contest, log onto www.211me.com/comedy and follow the directions to enter between August 8-11, 2008. In order to participate in this Contest, entrants must complete the entry form by listing his/her name, mobile phone number, and email address. By entering the Contest, you hereby agree that participation in this Contest is subject to the 211Me Inc. standard terms and conditions. To the extent there is a conflict between these Official Rules and the 211Me Inc. standard terms and conditions, these Official Rules shall govern.

    2. Only one entry per person. If multiple entries are received for the same entrant, only the first entry submitted by that entrant will qualify for entry in the Contest and subsequent entries submitted by that entrant shall be disqualified. By entering, entrants agree to be bound by the decisions of the contest 211Me Inc. and these Official Rules and to comply with all federal, state, and local laws and regulations. Entries which are mutilated, incomplete, illegible, inaccurate, forged, irregular in any way, or otherwise not in compliance with these Official Rules are void. In the event of a dispute concerning who submitted an entry, the entry will be deemed to have been submitted by the authorized holder of the e-mail/mobile account from which the entry is made. 211Me Inc. will not allow for multiple votes and validations of votes will be checked.

    3. 211me will perform a selection process from entrants to ensure a high level of quality and that the contestant’s comedic material meets a standard of professionalism and appropriateness for the venue and is consistent with the theme of the headlining comic. 211me reserves the right to disqualify any comic, for any reason whatsoever. 211me will review submissions for eligibility. Participation in the Contest is not guaranteed. Final approval is at the sole discretion of 211me and Showcase Live. Any contestants may be removed or omitted from the contest based on the aforementioned eligibility requirements, as well as on publically available comedic materials submitted by contestant.

  3. Selection of Winner / Prizes.

    1. Voting will open to the public on August 12 and end on August 19, 2008. Votes will be accepted online as well as on mobile. Only one vote will be accepted per mobile number or email.

    2. The Grand Prize winner, determined by popular vote, will be notified by telephone or email by August 20th. The Winner (and parent or legal guardian if Winner is under 21) will be required to sign, have notarized and return an Affidavit of Eligibility and Publicity/Liability Release (and any other documents required by 211Me, within two (2) calendar days of notification. The Winner will also be required to send a copy of his/her passport, driver’s license or birth certificate as proof of age and residency. If a Winner cannot be contacted within two (2) calendar days of first notification attempt, if the prize notification is returned as undeliverable, if a Winner rejects the prize, in the event of noncompliance with these Rules, if the Affidavit of Eligibility and Publicity/Liability Release is not executed by the winner, or the winner is unable to make the appearance at Showcase Live on August 23rd, the prize will be forfeited and an alternative winner may be selected from all remaining eligible entries. Upon prize forfeiture, no compensation will be given. The Affidavit of Eligibility and Publicity/Liability Release must be complete and must include the Winner’s social security or resident alien identification number. The information in Winner’s Affidavit of Eligibility must be correct and must be identical to the information provided in Winner's entry or the Winner will be disqualified. Transportation and accommodations to and from the engagement Showcase Live on the aforementioned date is the sole responsibility of the Contestant and neither 211me nor Showcase Live shall be responsible to reimburse any costs whatsoever to the participants.

    3. One (1) Grand Prize Winner will be rewarded with the opportunity to open for Dave Attell on August 23rd, 2008 at Showcase Live at Patriot Place in Foxboro, MA, along with a cash prize of $1500 US.

    4. If, for reasons beyond the control of 211Me Inc. (including, but not limited to, tampering or computer virus infection), the Contest is not capable of running as originally planned, 211Me Inc., at its sole discretion, reserves the right to cancel or modify the Contest, without liability. If a sufficient number of eligible entries (as determined by 211Me Inc. in its sole discretion) are not received by the end of the Contest period, 211Me Inc. reserves the right not to award any or all prizes. All taxes (including, but not limited to, income taxes) are the sole responsibility of Winner. All entrants agree to comply fully with each provision in these Official Rules. Any person attempting to defraud or in any way tamper with this Contest and any person who does not comply with these Official Rules, will be ineligible for any prize and may be prosecuted to the full extent of the law.

  4. Release of 211Me Inc. From Any and All Liability.

    Entrants agree that 211Me Inc. shall not be liable for losses or injuries of any kind resulting from: (i) acceptance/possession and/or use/misuse of prize(s), (ii) participation in the Contest, (iii) individual, joint or collective technical malfunctions of the telephone network and/or transmission line, computer on-line system, computer dating mechanism, computer equipment, hardware and/or software, or (iv) any delay or distortion of an entry resulting from data transmissions that are garbled, incomplete, misdirected, lost, mutilated, delayed, corrupted, mechanically duplicated, illegible or otherwise not in compliance with these Official Rules. Entrants also agree that 211Me and its partners are not responsible or liable for any injury or damage to an entrant's or third person's computer related to or resulting from the Contest and/or its prizes. 211Me and its partners are not liable for damage to a user's computer system (including, without limitation, any server failure or lost, delayed or corrupted data or other malfunction) due, either directly or indirectly, to an entrant's participation in the Contest or downloading of information in connection with the Contest. 211Me reserves the right to modify or cancel the Contest in the event that any portion of any website used to administer any aspect of the Contest becomes technically corrupted.
