You are sending a SMS (text message) and a hyperlink to a web page that contains your contact information and a picture of you or something else you want people to see. You can also include a note to the receipient.

Yes. When you send a mashup, there is a note field below which you can enter a short note.

Text messaging. It is the acronym for short messaging service which is the most commonly used protocol for sending text messages.

As long as you have text messaging enabled on your phone, you can receive 211(me) text messages on your phone. Each message includes an actionable link to the mashup which is viewable on the mobile internet.

Yes. Almost all the phones in the US are able to send and receive text messages, but you can disable the service through your carrier.

No. You do not need to connect to the mobile Internet from your phone to send and receive 211me mashups. You can send them using your text messaging service (but you can not view the complete mashup without accessing the mobile Internet).

Yes. You can send and recieve 211me mashups using text messaging. The text message includes the vital information (For example: Name, phone number, etc.) but in order to view the entire mashup by clicking on the link you will need access to the mobile Internet.

Did you click on the link in the text message? There is a link in the text message which you need to click to view the entire mashup. You can still send the mashup and receive them but can not view them on your phone unless you have access to the mobile Internet.

You can send the mashup several ways: Website - click on the mashup from your gallery, and click "Share". Enter in the email address or mobile phone number and message (optional) and click send.

From the mashup: If you are viewing a mashup on the Internet or your phone, select the Share link above the mashup, enter an email address or mobile phone number and click send.

From text messaging: Send a message from your text messaging to 555211 (our short code), in the body of the text message put the recipients phone number.

Verizon works a little differently. You can view your mashups by going to www.211me.com using your mobile Internet browser and login to your account. Or you can type the link in the text message into your web browser. If you have a Smartphone (like Blackberry or Treo), you can click on the links in the text message and they should take you to the mashup.

Verizon disables the ability for your mobile phone to click links sent to you inside of text messaging. For example, if you have a Motorola Razr phone from AT&T the link will work, but not with the Verizon service. You can view mashups if you have Verizon and a mobile Internet plan. Type the link in the text message into your mobile browser or go to www.211me.com and enter your account.

Yes. Thanks for asking, this is a big feature of the system. You can send mashups using text messaging (see How do I send my mashup).

No. It is much more, it can be used with 100% of phones but we do automatically generate a Vcard for each mashup you create so the recipient can import your contact information. Above your mashup there is a "Save" link and then select "Save VCard". Some phones cannot download a Vcard, but you can foward the entire mashup to your email and follow the process to get the Vcard.

Yes. Above your mashup there is a "Reply" link.

555211 is our short code. The carriers require service providers like us to have a short code to send messages. We are not allowed to send from a ten digit number.

Contact your carrier. Your account is set up to block messages from short codes and needs to be changed.

In your profile, select the edit button next to Applications from the left margin. From the Edit My Applications dialog box, select My Stuff and click Edit Settings. In the Who can see this response, select My Networks and Friends. Save Changes.

Instruct visitors to your profile to click the Share button in the My Stuff box to view the mashup. If they do not want to share the mashup, select Skip, and they will then be able to view, share, or save your mashup.
